Having two of the four state Regions which makes up the 6A States, Fairfax wrestlers continue to have successful results while earning nine State individual Champions and seven State Runner ups out of 28 placements. Fairfax had a total of 56 6A State placers which is an average of four wrestlers per weight class. During this time the Corner of the Mat had also highlighted a Most Outstanding wrestler from each the Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, and Fairfax Counties. 2023 Most Outstanding Fairfax Wrestler 150 Isaac Hegg of Oakton, senior was a District, a Region Champion, and a 6A State Champion in 2023. Hegg had a 33-5 season record. Hegg was a four-year State placer earning runner-up in 2022, taking 4th place status in 2021, and 5th place State honors as a Freshman. 2023 Fairfax All-County Wrestling Team A 106 Caden Smith - James W. Robinson, a Junior, Smith took a 1st place at District, 1st at Region, and won the 6A States. Smith was 41-6 season record. Smith took a 4th place at States in 2021. 113 Ezekiel Keel - Chantilly, a Sophomore, Keel won District, took 1st at Region, and earned 1st place at the 6A State Championships. Keel had a season record of 41-5. Keel earned six place at States his Freshman year. 120 Benjamin Levy - George C. Marshall, a Junior, Levy won District, took 1st at Region, and was the 6A State runner-up. Levy ended with a 39-1 season record. Levy also earn State runner-up status his Sophomore year. 126 Calvin Wiedemer - Alexandria City, a Senior took a 1st place at District, and Region, and finished the year earning a 3rd place at 6A States. Wiedemer went 30-4 for his senior the year. During his junior year Wiedemer took 4th place at States. 132 Nick Ta - Westfield, a Senior, Ta took a 1st place at District, 1st at Region, and was a runner up at the 6A State Championships. Ta finished with a 12-1 post season record. Ta also earn 4th place status at States in 2122. 138 Tristan Corbin - James W. Robinson, a Junior, Corbin won District, and Region, and is the 2023 6A State Champion. Corbin went 35-6 during his Junior year. Corbin earned 3rd place at States in 2122 and won the 6A State Championship during his Freshman year. Yes, he is a Virginia 2X State Champion. 144 Benjamin Weader - Chantilly, a Sophomore, Weader took a 1st at District, 1st at Region, and won the 6A State Championships. Weader ended with a 21-1 season record. Weader also earned 3rd place at States his Freshman year.
157 Owen Lebkisher - George C. Marshall, a Senior, Lebkisher won the District, and Region, and the 2023 6A State Champion. Lebkisher ended with a 33-5 season record. A four-year state qualifier, Lebkisher earned a 3rd place at States in 2022 and 6th place in 2021. 165 Liam Gil-Swiger - Yorktown, a Senior, Gil-Swiger took a 1st place at District, a 1st place at Region, and won the 6A State Championships. Gil-Swiger had team high season record of 40-4. During his junior year Swiger took 4th place at States. 175 Robert Kucharczk - James W. Robinson, Sophomore, Kucharczk and took 1st in District, 1st place at Region, and won the 6A State Championships. Kucharczk finished the season by going 38-6. Kucharczk earned 4th place at States in 2122 190 Lorenzo Pellot-Vazquez - Fairfax, a Senior, Vazquez took 1st place at District, 1st place at Region, and won the 6A States. his post season record was 13-0. Pellot-Vazquez was a State qualifier in 2022 215 Trent Pane - Lake Braddock, a Junior, Pane took 3rd at Region and 2nd place at the 6A State Championships. Pane was 13-0 this post season. 285 Soren Pirhoun - George C. Marshall, a Junior, won the District, and Region, and took 3rd place at the 6A States. Pirhoun went 32-3 his junior year. Pirhoun was a State qualifier in 2022. 2023 Fairfax All-County Wrestling Team B 106 Carter Shin - Chantilly, a Freshman, 1st at Region, and 3rd at States. 113 Ronald Vernem - West Springfield, a Senior, 1st at Region, and 2nd at States. 120 Carson Easlick - Westfield, a Freshman, 2nd at Region, and 3rd at States. 126 Stefan Hernandez - Centreville, a Junior, 1st at Region, and 3rd at States. 132 William Dight - Thomas Edison, a Senior, 2nd at Region, and 6th at States. 138 Robert Rerras - Westfield, a Junior, 1st at Region, and 3rd at States. Rerras also won the 6A States in 2022 144 Brady Calderwood - Herndon, a Junior, 2nd at Region, and 3rd at States. 150 Jake Brubaker - Westfield, a Freshman, 2nd at Region , and 5th at States. 157 Robert Ronsckvitz - Langley, a Sophomore, 2nd at Region, and 3rd at States. 165 Ryan Roncskevitz - Langley, a Senior, 2nd at Region, and 2nd at States. 175 El Novario - James Madison, a Senior, 2nd at Region, and 4th at States. 190 Glean Gonzalez - Thomas Edison, a Senior, 2nd at Region, and 2nd at States. 215 Trent Pane - Lake Braddock, a Freshman, 3rd at Region, and 2nd at States. 285 Luke Dettleff - McLean, a Senior, 3rd at Region, and 6th at States.
