Brooke Point holds off Mountain View in a classic NOVA 6A Region B Championships Brooke Point High School had an impressive performance, advancing nine wrestlers to the VHSL States and pushing six wrestlers into the finals. They crowned five Region Champions: Jayden Villatoro (113 lbs), Benjamin Aguilar (138 lbs), Jonre Fisher (150 lbs), Chase Van Hovener (157 lbs), and Joseph Atkinson (285 lbs), earning a total of 233.5 team points, Mountain View High School also had a strong showing, advancing eight wrestlers to the VHSL States. Their team champions were Tyler Traves (144 lbs), Dustin Kohn (175 lbs), and Sean Whelan (215 lbs). Thomas Edison Dminates NOVA 6A Region C Championships Thomas Edison High School secured the regional title, advancing nine wrestlers to the VHSL States. Among their seven regional finalists, Joshua Bonilla Banegas (126 lbs) emerged as their sole Regional Champion. West Springfield High School advanced 10 wrestlers to the VHSL States, with four wrestlers earning Regional Champion titles: Adam Husseini (113 lbs), Gregory Barnett II (144 lbs), Abai Beishembiev (150 lbs), and David Careywon (175 lbs). Fairfax High School advanced nine wrestlers, with Kross Cassidy (165 lbs) and Harry Maltese (215 lbs) earning Regional Champion titles for the Lions. The Bull Dogs advanced 11 wrestlers to the VHSL States, with Brendan Sholders (132 lbs), Dylan Gwyn (144 lbs), Noah Ayers (150 lbs), and Merritt Clinton (175 lbs) all winning Regional Championships. Chantilly High School also had a strong performance, advancing nine wrestlers to the States. They had five wrestlers earning first place in the region: Michael Santos (106 lbs), Carter Shin (113 lbs), Ezekiel Keel (126 lbs), Tyler Dekraker (138 lbs), and Benjamin Weader (165 lbs). The Tigers were led by Regional Champions Will Brinker (113 lbs), Lucas Johnson (126 lbs), Anthony Ciotoli (132 lbs), Chase Alvarez (144 lbs), and Maddox Cho (150 lbs). After finishing second place at the 2024 States, Independence is gearing up for a State Championship run in 2025. Woodgrove claims the 4A Region C Championships Woodgrove High School is determined to repeat their success as the 4A State Champions, displaying complete dominance this past weekend by winning the Regional Championship and advancing all 14 wrestlers to the VHSL States. The Wolverines had an impressive performance, advancing 12 wrestlers to the Regional Finals, and were led by Regional Champions Camden Murray (138 lbs), Colten Jones (144 lbs), Sawyer Jones (150 lbs), Campbell Frook (175 lbs), Luke Benkelman (190 lbs), and Ibrahim Zak (215 lbs). Loudoun County High School also had a strong showing, finishing in second place behind Woodgrove. The Captains advanced 10 wrestlers to the VHSL States, showcasing their strength with five Region Champs; 106 Grace Roberts, 120 Bryce Schnelzer, 132 Lincoln Kelley, 157 Justin Lower, and 16 Rocco Zagorites. James Wood wins the NOVA 4A Region D Championships James Wood High School earned the Regional Team Championship and advanced 10 wrestlers to the VHSL States. The Colonels had two Regional Champions: Hayden Black (106 lbs) and Orion Cox (215 lbs) as they out score the field with 222 team points. NOVA - VHSL Class 4 Region D results Skyline wins the NOVA 3A Region B Championships Skyline High School had a strong showing, advancing 9 wrestlers to the VHSL States and earning a total of 317.5 team points. This region competed the week before as the Hawks had eight Regional Champions: Paden Alyea (106 lbs), Jacob Buffum (113 lbs), D.J. Mabie (120 lbs), Parker Withers (126 lbs), Josiah Sykes (138 lbs), Cody Salomon (150 lbs), Carter Huston (165 lbs), and Joey DiVello (175 lbs). Brentsville District High School also performed well, advancing 11 wrestlers to the States and earning 263 team points.
