Woodbridge, VA:
On February 23 and 24, Gar-Field HS. hosted the 2024 Girls State Wrestling Championships. In its second year, it is not hard to see that girls wrestling has taken flight and is growing in popularity.
As the Girls State Championships had similar total of 400 compared to last year, there were 118 high school teams in 2023 to 142 in 2024. As most schools could only fill a few weight classes there were some that averaged four to six plus slots.
This state event did not run any team score as this was more of an individual State Championships. Out of the twelve weight classes the biggest in the field were 138 lbs weight class with 52 entires and 126 lbs had 47.
