UPDATE AS OF: 2/17/2024 3:30PM Virginia Beach, VA - SEMI-FINAL UPDATE: To have your arm raised in a State Finals you need to show strength and have the heart to be battle tested. The Virginia Beach Sports Center went from 12 mats on Friday to 6 wrestling mats Saturday morning as the 6A, 5A, 4A classification was host to some spectacular wrestling. We will highlight some of the NOVA wrestling teams leading in each of the 6A, 5A, and 4A State Championships. The VHSL Wrestling Championships Finals are slated for a 4:30PM start time inside the Virginia Beach Sport Center.
Here is the results of Day 1: DAY 1 UPDATE: 2024 VHSL Wrestling State Championships (after opening round) 6A Classification Championships Semi-Finals Team Results: Mountain View continues to show strength and the reason they are the top team in the NOVA ranking and the State tournament. They led all teams with 162 after the Championship Semi-Finals round. They went 3-2 in the semi’s as (126) Nick Sanders, (144) Tyler Traves, and (165) Gabe Cortes all won for the Wildcats. Chantilly went 3-1 as (106) Shin, Carter, (120) Ezekiel Keel, and (175) Michael Rivetti all won their Semi-Finals matches. They also improved their team score to 119.5 points after the Semi-finals and some say they have a locked up second place in the team standings. Westfield went 1-3 and holds onto third place with 97 team points after the Semi-Finals. (132) Carson Easlick (Westfield) is the only Finalist for the Bulldogs. The race for third place is still open as other teams below continue to wrestle. The following are the NOVA wrestlers that will be competing in the 6A VHSL State Championship Finals:

5A Classification Championships Semi-Finals Team Results: Cox continue to take hold of the lead after the Championships Semi-Finals with 159 team points and have won the state title going into the Finals. The Falcons advance four wrestlers into the State Championship Finals. Independence when 3-1 and still in second place with 138 team points. (113) Anthony Ciotoli, (120) Aidan Shufelt, and (126) Lucas Johnson all advanced into the State Championship Finals. Stone Bridge is in fifth place with 101 points as (175) Jonathan Korte was the sole State Finalists. The following are the NOVA wrestlers that will be competing in the 5A VHSL State Championship Finals:

4A Classification Championships Semi-Finals Team Results: Woodgrove went 5-4 in the Championships Semi-Finals and lead the field with 169 team points. (126) Ben Spagnoli, (144) Sawyer Jones, (150) Austen Watson, (157) Cameron Owens, and (190) Luke Benkelman and will wrestle for the gold in the State Finals tonight. Woodgrove has enough team points to maintain the lead to win their first place wrestling State Championships. Loudoun County won all four of their Semi-Fianl matches to jump into third place with 102 team points onto third place. (113) Bryce Schnelzer, (126) Lincoln Kelley, (157) Justin Lowery, and (175) Octavian Ashford, all will having a Championship Final bout tonight starting at 4:30PM. The following are the NOVA wrestlers that will be competing in the 4A VHSL State Championship Finals:
