Virginia Beach, VA - DAY 1 Recap Championship Quarters: As the VHSL conclude the first day of wrestling it’s clear that Mountain View in 6A, Cox in 5A, and Woodgrove in 4A came out on day one on top and might have enough power to finish the job tomorrow night.

If you win in the Championship Quarter Final round on day one, you went 2-0 and just need to win one more to be in the State Finals. But weighing in just one more time will occur by all state placers tomorrow before any wrestling.

The Semi-Finals are scheduled for 9:30AM Saturday morning start time.

Championships Quarter - 6A Classification Team Results:

Mountain View went 5-4 in the Championship Quarter and leads all teams with 89 team points. The Wildcats were led by (106) Peyton Van Hoven, (126) Nick Sanders, (132) Mason Knight, (144) Tyler Traves, and (165) Gabe Cortes.

Westfield holds onto second place as they advance four wrestlers into the Semi-Finals. The Bulldogs picked up some great wrestle back wins that had them jumping Chantilly in the standings during the final Consolation round.

Chantilly also showed strength and advance five wrestlers to the semi-finals. (106) Shin, Carter, (113) Michael Santos, (120) Ezekiel Keel, (157) Benjamin Weader, and (175) Michael Rivetti all having success on the mat.

Battlefield and Landstown are tied for fourth place in the standings. The Bobcats are led by (144) Matthew Arndt, (157) Keegan Pado, (175) Ryan Gioffre, and (285) Joseph Lubinskas who all have a semi-final bout.

Cox is in the lead with 93 team points after the first round. They advance five wrestlers into the State Semi-Finals.

Independence went 4-3 and in second place with 76 team points. (113) Anthony Ciotoli, (120) Aidan Shufelt, (126) Lucas Johnson, and (132) Esau Oliveira all advanced into the Semi-Finals.

Stone Bridge is fifth place with 62 points with (132) Nic Dimond, (157) Will Brooks, and (175) Jonathan Korte all reaching the State Semi-Finals.

(113) Adam Skinner, (126) Ben Spagnoli, (132) Camden Murray, (144) Sawyer Jones, (150) Austen Watson, (157) Cameron Owens, (165) Brodie Carley, (175) Campbell Frook, and (190) Luke Benkelman all will be wrestling in the state Semi-Finals.

Loudoun County won four of their six matches to hold onto third place. (113) Bryce Schnelzer, (126) Lincoln Kelley, (157) Justin Lowery, and (175) Octavian Ashford, all showed strength to earn wins.
