Update on 2.9.23, 7:50pm While many schools had the District Championships last week some schools sat idle. The second level of the post season Regional Championships has officially begun and is scheduled to run through this Saturday. DAY 1 UPDATE: The 6A Region C Championships started on Wednesday evening hosted by Robinson HS, in Fairfax Va, and has only wrestled through the first three rounds. As of last night Thomas Edison HS. holds the lead with 64 team points through day one and Robinson HS and Fairfax HS are tied for second with 59 points. The Region C Championships will continue today (Thursday). You can follow this Region C Championships on Track Wrestling: The 6A Region C Championships FINAL UPDATE: Robinson HS won the Region Championships with 185 team points and advanced eight wrestlers onto the 6A VHSL States Wrestling Championships. Thomas Edison HS took second with 167 points and Fairfax HS was third place with 165 points.
The 6A Region D Championships will start on Thursday, Feb. 9th (today) hosted by Centreville HS., in Fairfax Va. The Concorde District Champs Westfield HS and runner-up Chantilly HS and along with George C. Marshall HS should be the front runners of this Region D. You can follow this Region D Championships on Track Wrestling: The 6A Region D Championships FINAL UPDATE: Westfield HS won the Region Championships with 161 team points and advanced seven wrestlers onto the 6A VHSL States Championships. Marshall HS took second with 144 points and Chantilly was third place with 135.5 points. The 6A Region B Championships will start on Saturday, Feb. 11th hosted by Woodbridge HS., in Woodbridge Va. The Cedar Run District Champs Battlefield HS. and the Cardinal District Champs Woodbridge HS. both wrestling programs advanced 13 wrestlers onto the Regions and are expecting to see these two teams in front of the field for Saturdays Championship event. You can follow this Region B Championships on Track Wrestling: The 6A Region B Championships Independence High School is scheduled to host the 4A Region C and the 5A Region D Championships on Friday, Feb. 10th and Saturday Feb. 11th. That’s correct, two different Regional Championships events taking place inside one Loudoun Co. HS. Expect for 4A Region C Championships Sherando HS. and Loudoun County HS. to be the front runners for this Championships as the 5A Region D Championships Brooke Point HS, Riverbend HS, Independence HS, and Mountain View will all be battling for the 5A Region C Championships. You can follow this 4A Region C and the 5A Region D Championships on Track Wrestling: The 4A Region C and 5A Region C Championships The 3A Region B Championships are slated at Warren Co. HS in Front Royal, VA on Saturday, Feb. 11th. NOVA ranked Skyline HS and Brentsville HS. should be the top two team on the leader board for this Region. As NOVA will be hosting six different Regions expect for those events to have six different Regional Championships in are area. The top four wrestlers in each weight class at each region will then qualify for the VHSL State Championships next weekend Feb.17th and 18th in Virginia Beach.
